The historic Milanese brand is back: it will produce racing cars but also road supercars. Investments of 100 million euros

Isotta Fraschini is back and ready to make three. He made the history of motoring in the first decades of the twentieth century, then a long silence before removing the veil on a future that should start again right from the Monza racetrack, where in July the Milanese brand is preparing to debut in the Wec World Championship. the championship for Sport Prototype and Gran Turismo cars engaged in endurance races.

At the ACI headquarters in Milan, Isotta Fraschini unveiled the Tipo 6 Lmh Competizione, the car waiting to be homologated by the FIA and currently the only prototype under development. Today – explains Claudio Berro, ex Ferrari and Peugeot and now head of the brand’s motorsport – we are exactly where we predicted four months ago when we announced that Isotta Fraschini would be back and that she would do so with a racing car. The Tipo 6 Lmh Competizione in its complete and real configuration.

Isotta Fraschini the racing project

The intentions for the 2023 season remain those of competing in the 2023 WEC championship with the “race by race” formula as soon as the car is homologated by the FIA. In the meantime, we will grind kilometers together with Team Vector (with which an agreement has been reached for the tests, but also for the future) to be ready as soon as possible which, probably, will it will be the Monza race on 9 July. The prototype (with an engine resulting from the collaboration with the Paduan company Michelotto Engineering and with the Germans of Hwa) represents the basis for three distinct cars that will be produced by Isotta Fraschini and sold starting from 2.75 million euros.

In addition to the racing version, the all-wheel drive Hypercar will also be built in the Pista variant, for customers who will purchase a turnkey package that also includes the transfer of the machine and specialized mechanics to support it, and in the Strada version that can be registered (and totally customisable) in countries that allow this type of homologation. The first car has already completed its first bench tests and will shortly begin those on the track.

The industrial project

In parallel, the industrial plan announced by the president Alexander Fasina foresees an initial investment of 100 million euros (a third of which has already been allocated) to arrive at an annual production of Type 6 cars of the order of 50 units in five years, while starting from 2026 a new two-seater hypercar will arrive which over the years later it will settle on 30-40 units per year. Numbers that will allow the company to reach (and perhaps exceed) a balanced budget.
