After the first leg of the Serie C playoff final with Lecco, the Foggia fans took it out on the referee, who would have conditioned the result. A hunt for Bonacina started on social networks: a metalworker, a young footballer and a journalist attacked

These days it might be inconvenient to call your surname Bonacinalike the referee Kevin of the Aia section of Bergamo. The risk is that of being trolled on the Net, by Foggia fans. The facts: last Tuesday at the Zaccheria stadium in the Apulian capital, for the first leg of the Serie C playoff final against Lecco which finished 1-2 for the Blucelesti from Lombardy. Everything OK? In no way. For the Rossoneri fans, he is the referee of the match (according to them already suspect, because he comes from a section in The Hague only 40 km away from the Como city) would have voluntarily conditioned the outcome. First by disallowing a goal from local centre-forward Ougunseye, and immediately after by denying a penalty on the satanello half-back, Frigerio.

In short, a real arbitration disaster – for the Foggia supporters – which, in the last 48 hours, has led not only to a parliamentary question, but also to official protests with the Hague (Italian Association of Referees) and requests for intervention by the Public Prosecutor’s Office. This while a real hunt for Bonacina started on social networks. Among the many, a young man of the same name was the first to pay the price, persecuted – in fact trolled, in web jargon – on his social profiles. To the point of having to clarify on Facebook: Guys I’m not a referee! I am a metal worker. I’m sorry for Foggia, but it’s not me oh!.

But certainly not the only one: also the young man Luca Bonacina (born in 2004, footballer now at Brusaporto), he paid the price. So much to write: Attention, I was mistaken for the referee of Foggia-Lecco but only a namesake – he had to clarify on the same social platform -. I’m an 18-year-old boy and I recently played for Lecco’s Primavera side, but I have no ties to this story or to this person. But not finished: for a local journalist from Lecco went the same way (also last name Bonacina). The young man’s professional profile was posted on the chats of Foggia fans, indicating him as a relative of Kevin, race director.

A real Foggia crusade against the Bonacinas of the Lombard pre-Alps. Annoying and also a little disturbing, considering that it would have been enough to read up on it. Thus discovering that Bonacina – especially in the upper Lombard area, from Bergamo to Varese, passing above all through Brianza, Lecco and Valtellina – was a very widespread surname. A bit like Russo in Foggia. And Sunday, meanwhile, here is the return match at Rigamonti-Ceppi in Lecco with Serie B up for grabs, other problems are in sight: the Foggia fans – disappointed and unhappy with Bonacina’s refereeing. Kevin, the real one — they promised to show up in the small Lecco stadium (5000 seats) in thousands. Even without holding any of the approximately 700 tickets already sold to other Rossoneri fans.
