The consequences of bad weather in Emilia-Romagna. A dead man in Castel Bolognese

Overflowing rivers and streams, landslides, closed bridges and schools, stationary trains. From the province of Modena to that of Ravenna, the rains, after a long period of semi-drought, have created damage and inconvenience in a large part of the region

Forty-eight hours of rain – moreover after months of little, very little rainfall – caused the Quaderna stream to overflow between Selva and San Martino di Molinella (province of Bologna), the Sillaro stream in Conselice (province of Ravenna), causing the of the embankment, the Senio river near Castel Bolognese (also in the province of Ravenna) – the overflow caused the death of an eighty-year-old man, swept away by the waters in the countryside surrounding the town -, the Lamone river in Boncellino , a locality between Cotignola and Russi (always in the province of Ravenna). Near Faenza, the water overflowed its banks at the confluence of the Marzeno torrent with the Lamone.

It is all of Emilia-Romagna, however, to look carefully at the rivers. From the province of Modena to that of Ravenna the situation is similar: the levels of Secchia, Panaro, Reno, Savena, Santerno and Montone are worrying. Many bridges have been closed and railway traffic has been suspended between Faenza and Forlì (Bologna-Rimini line), between Russi and Lugo (Bologna-Ravenna line), between Russi and Granarolo (Faenza-Ravenna line) and between Lavezzola and Mezzano ( Ferrara-Ravenna line).

At least 300 families have been evacuated, many municipalities have closed schools and have advised residents to stay at home and go up to the highest floors if possible. Reinforcements have arrived for the firefighters from Lombardy, Veneto and the Marches (since only in the early hours of today there were over 400 interventions).

In Fontanelice (Bologna) a landslide caused by rain caused the collapse of a house. One person is missing.
