Tennis, Sinner in the round of 16 in Vienna: Garin beaten

Return to the field winning for Jannik Sinner. The 21-year-old from South Tyrol, who hadn’t played since Sofia’s semifinal when he retired with an ankle injury, made it through the first round of the ATP 500 in Vienna (fast indoor), in Austria. Sinner, world number 12 and sixth seeded, beat the Chilean 6-3 6-2 Cristian Garin, 86 of the ranking. In the first decisive set break of the blue in the eighth game (5-3), in the second Jannik broke his opponent’s serve in the third game and then in the seventh, closing the practice after an hour and 15 of play. In the second round Sinner will face the Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, number 29 in the world. One success on each side in the previous two: last March in the quarters of the Masters 1000 in Miami Cerundolo took advantage of Sinner’s retirement, who took revenge in the Davis Cup in September.
