Reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan overtook world number one Iga Swiatek of Poland to qualify for her first WTA 1000 final at Indian Wells.
Rybakina beat an unrecognizable defending Indian Wells champion Swiatek 6-2, 6-2 in just 76 minutes in front of a stunned crowd on center court in Indian Wells, California.
Rybakina, born in Russia but representing Kazakhstan, will face Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka for the title on Sunday, as she seeks to avenge her loss in January’s Australian Open final.
