Temptation Island more than an island is the arch of Italy. Phenomenology (and ecstasy) of the TV sheep

“Ecstasy of the sheep”, amusement of the little sociologist… Call it what you want this Temptation Island that tempts and bewitches us. Perhaps because more than an island it is the arch-Italy. Winning for the means and not for the message. Not for the plot, which has always been the same for many summers, but for the style. We are on the island of love. Maria De Filippi universe, Mediaset galaxy. Seven couples in crisis are sent to the Is Morus Relais resort in Pula, near Cagliari. Same beach, same sea, and seven couples who have been doing more or less the same things for eleven editions. They separate – males with males, females with females – they let themselves be seduced by dozens of “tempters” and sometimes they fornicate and sometimes they don’t. Depends. Everything is then filmed and shown to the odd boyfriend who freaks out. And so far nothing new: the opportunity makes the thief: the eye does not see, the heart does not hurt … The message, in fact, is always the same. On the other hand, folders can be opened on the vehicle. On interjections, on the vernacular, on the geography of insults and on all the tics of arch-Italy… Like those of Gabriela with an “elle” who addresses her boyfriend Giuseppe with insults in Neapolitan (and already here universes open up, worlds of parents and children raised with Dallas, who feel like being cosmopolitan with only one “L”). Gabriela with an “L” teaches us that the more foreign the name, the more ferocious is the she-wolf of the suburbs. “Puerc”, “stu zuzzus”, “omm ‘e merd”, Gabriela tells her boyfriend Giuseppe that she didn’t let her study and cheated on her on Tinder. In summary: Gabriela, who thought she was modern and mistress of the world when she was born, still lives after the war. A bit of her like Vittoria di Roma, who hates her boyfriend Daniele di lei – “a troglodyte with the septum” – because he doesn’t get her pregnant. She despises him, this “troglodyte” bodybuilder: someone who “doesn’t have the skills” and who, speaking of his muscles and heart, says: “I’m big but I’m good; I’m a good guy”. And in short, Vittoria despises him because she too wants to buy him and frame him forever as half-offspring, as in a story of old aunts.
