Super Mario, D’Artagnan, Damon enlists Michael Jordan and 9 other films not to be missed: Easter in cinemas and streaming

Surely you have never met two plumbers like Mario and Luigi, red hat and green hat, moustached and industrious brothers, rather clumsy, inseparable. The two they live in Brooklyn with their Italian-American family, eat pasta, wear colored overalls, are like squirrels playing electronic games. But they are not doing well. The joint company, Super Mario Bros., has few customers, the former partner wastes them enviously, mom and dad have faith but not too much. In the playful multiverse that revolves around them there is instead an evil lizard, Bowser, who would like to invade the kingdom of the blue men of Peach, her warrior princess and marry her. The blue cairns of the Mushroom Realm repel the onslaught snowball enemies. Look at us: we are adorable!.
Peach acts brave but has to give in to the Green Lizard Bowser who finds himself in the way mario and Luigi catapulted into that fairy-tale world through a faulty pipe, separated and found again, determined to do justice to Peach in the name of all the women of creation. Is it possible that the two flying tinsmiths manage to save goat and cabbage by moving their legs, leveling up, clearing obstacles, bouncing like rubber balls in the cosmic vacuum, keeping Donkey Kong or Bowser’s nails at bay? Possible, and how: the law of Super Mario.
Combining the historic brand of Nintendo with the digital magic of Illumination Entertainment, Mommy Dearest by despicable Me and the Minions, Super Mario Bros. – The Movie hook and revives a tradition that passes through competing brands such as Disney, Pixar or DreamWorks after having colonized the fairytale pop animation market with 3D glasses on their noses. It seems like a century ago, when Sega and Nintendo shared the video game ring, and it already felt like we had one foot in the future. Today the kingdom of Super Mario includes theme parks, hot consoles, designer cartoons and, above all, stratospheric collections. Directors Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with TV pedigree, mess up Matthew Fogel’s screenplay and the soundtrack by Koji Kondo and concentrate the best of the saga by raising the pace, the number of surprises, the technological decibels.
Super Mario and Luigi are ordinary people with the overalls, they don’t need the cloak, their superpowers come from determination and fortitude – you wouldn’t give them a dime, until they move mountains or save the world. And even in that moment their thoughts turn to the family or the princess in danger. The form becomes the substance: in an hour and a half of projection, the visionary landscapes take over the slapstick humor of the situations. The result is a cine-video game full of impossible missions in which everyone, with the joystick in hand and a little nostalgia, can come together and have fun.
