A little big Sofia Raffaeli wins the silver medal at the European Championships in Baku in the all around competition. With a total of 129,550 points, the blue gymnast, reigning world champion of the ball and hoop, as well as the all around, has to surrender only to the Bulgarian Boryana Kaleyn (131,000) gold (a result that Bulgaria had lacked for 29 years, before Russian rule), bronze to the other Bulgarian Stiliana Nikolova (129,500). Twelfth position for the other Italian, Alexandra Agiurgiuculese.

Sofia today scored 33,800 points on hoop, 31,900 on ball, 32,350 on clubs and 31,500 on ribbon.

Raffaeli thus becomes the first Italian ever to climb on the continental podium in the competition that includes the four tools.

In the heat Raffaeli, 19 years old, commented: I’m happy with regards to qualifying because I managed to do the four tools without errors, but I’m not entirely satisfied because I skipped some steps and had to remove a little something, maybe a little too much. However, the Chiaravalle athlete has no intention of stopping: I dedicate my silver to all of Italy who believed in me and still believes in me. However, I have three more finals tomorrow and I will try to redeem myself again. I’m happy for the medal, but until I reach it I don’t say perfection, but until I’m satisfied with what I do on the platform I won’t be happy.

In fact, tomorrow, on the final day, Raffaeli she will be involved in three specialty finals: clubs, hoop and ball.
