Silla, the “timed” column that recharges electric cars with photovoltaics

Silla Industries was born in 2021 from the idea of Alberto Stecca And Cristiano Griletti and from their desire to study and create products that help users to approach sustainable mobility more quickly which, the founders specify, “does not necessarily mean electric, but zero emissions”. This is how it sees the light at the end of the same year Prisma charging wallbox for electric car which recharges withexcess energy produced by a solar system: “When your photovoltaic system produces more energy than you are consuming – specifies Stecca – the excess energy is transferred to the grid, which usually pays it very little.

Prism reads your production and your consumption, and when yours photovoltaic system is producing more than you consume, use the excess energy to charge your car”. Even those who do not have a solar system can save money: the electric car charging station Prism indeed allows you to time the charge at willonly when the hourly rates are more convenient.

In just a few years, the startup has grown exponentially, so much so that it was included in 82nd place among the thousand European companies with the highest growth rate of 2023 compiled by the Financial Times. In good company, together with 20 other companies in the boot, Silla is the first Italian in the ranking of electrical manufacturerand the first to deal with smart mobility.

There Padua startupwhich has not yet received capital increases, has reached a workforce of exceeds 40 employeeswith 13,000 columns produced and a turnover of almost 4.5 million euros in 2022accompanying this growth with a progressive tripling of the spaces destined for the headquarters.

All despite the government having blocked the incentives for electric mobility: “The government’s action against our sector was violent and sudden but in the second half of the year we will start again in a big way”. More than 90% of the startup’s revenues come from agreements with companies: “We specialize in the design and production of customized devices for the b2b, which are often branded in their name – continues the co-founder – for example we work with Repower, but also with construction companies or small companies that produce energy”.

Silla Industries is working to enter others European markets and to do so it will open its capital to investors. Furthermore, in the plans of the two founders, there are products both for direct current recharging and for energy storage: “This is the future of the sector – concludes Stecca – the center of the new solutions lies in the bidirectionality of these products which will be able to use the battery of the car to transfer energy to users. It is a technology that has yet to arrive. But we are starting to see the first vehicles. We are moving forward and we are making products to make recharging as cheap as possible”.
