Serie, Genoa beats Perugia and extends Bari in second place

Genoa beat Perugia 2-0 and consolidate second place. Bari held back at home, who were forced to come back from two goals down to draw 2-2 against an excellent Como. Sudtirol falls away, beaten 1-0 in Ascoli. The 3-2 victory of Venice against Palermo was precious. In the fight not to relegate, Spal did not go beyond the 2-2 draw at home against Brescia while Cosenza drew 1-1 against Cittadella. The same result in the match between Benevento and the former Inzaghi’s Reggina.

Genoa-Perugia 2-0
Genoa continues its march by beating Perugia 2-0 who is increasingly in trouble in the fight for salvation. Genoa’s first chance in the 27th minute with a free-kick from Jagiello, excellent Furlan to fly under the crossroads. On 36′ Coda tries but Furlan is very good. Genoa ahead in the 41st minute. Sabelli crosses for Frendrup, header and 1-0. In the second half Coda engages Furlan (3′) also good on Strootman (10′), Coda wastes (twice) and Gudmundsson then, on 25′, Dragusin puts in from a corner.

Bari-Como 2-2
Bars of character. Mignani’s team caught Como in extremis at 2-2 after going down by two goals at half-time. Lombardi confident and insightful in the first half: Ioannou scored quick to anticipate Pucino under measure and Cutrone good at capitalizing on a wrong disengagement by Folorunsho and electrocuting Caprile from outside the box. But in the second half, Longo’s team surrendered to the hosts, revitalized by the entry of Botta and Morachioli who primed Cheddira for the hopeful goal. Mignani brings in one attacker after another but the equalizer comes from captain Di Cesare who scores from just a few steps into recovery.

Ascoli-South Tyrol 1-0
A penalty by Gondo gives Ascoli three heavy points in terms of salvation against a never dangerous Sudtirol. Bianconeri immediately dangerous: first Giordano (12′), then a turn from Proia and Botteghin’s post from distance (18′), then Poluzzi then saves twice first from Dionisi’s free-kick (29′) and from Botteghin’s header (31′). Sudtirol relies on Odogwu’s counterattack, but Leali makes no saves in the first half of the game. In the second half, the newcomer Rover immediately missed the ball for Sudtirol who returned to the field with a completely different spirit than in the first half. Ascoli sees itself again only in the 61st minute with a turn from Dionisi which ends up just wide. In the 67th minute Rover engages Leali after escaping the Juventus defence. The match only unlocked in the 87th minute when Eramo was knocked down in the area by Celli. From the spot Gondo transforms coldly by displacing Poluzzi. In full recovery Collocolo devours the goal of doubling after the offensive sortie of the guest goalkeeper Poluzzi.

Cosenza-Cittadella
1-1 draw that only partially satisfies Cosenza and Cittadella. The two teams move one step remaining in cohabitation in fifth from last place, but observe Venice moving away. At the “Marulla” the Calabrians pass first with D’Urso, who in the 12th minute volleys a cross from Marras from the opposite side onto the far post. The Venetians equalized fifteen minutes later with Antonucci who beat Micai diagonally. Shot slightly fouled by Calò. Gorini’s team maintains ball possession more, tries to push but Cosenza holds well. However, Micai is providential in the second half on Antonucci (64′): the Sila goalkeeper deviates for a corner.

Benevento-Reggina 1-1
Benevento wins a point that allows them to still keep alive a small hope of reaching salvation. In Andrea Agostinelli’s first game on the bench the 1-1 with Reggina arrives. After five minutes, Benevento have the first chance of the match with Foulon, but his diagonal ends just on the bottom. After seven minutes Inzaghi was forced to make the first substitution of the match. In an aerial clash between Paleari and Di Chiara, it is the former Giallorossi full-back who has the worst and is forced to leave the pitch prematurely. Liotti enters his place. On 25′ Reggina unlocks the contest. Cross from the left for Pierozzi who scores alone behind Paleari. At the start of the second half Agostinelli tries to change something in his chessboard by simultaneously inserting Manfredini, Ciano and Pettinari for Paleari, Tello and Simy. Benevento had more of the ball in hand by crushing Reggina in their own half. Five minutes from the end, Agostinelli’s team equalized. Cross from Foulon’s left for the newly entered Ciano who scores from close range.

Venice-Palermo 3-2
Palermo falls 3-2, collapsing in the second half under the blows of a Venice in great shape. Palermo ahead in the 5th minute with Verre for Brunori who makes no mistake. Venice takes a risk when Saric serves Soleri, but Joronen saves (14′). Five minutes later the equalizer arrives thanks to a mistake by Pigliacelli who misses the postponement, Johnsen takes advantage of it and scores with a lob. In the second half, Nedelcearu’s elbow on Pohjanpalo and a 2-1 penalty from the same Veneto striker. Two minutes later, a counterattack finalized by Tessmann and a trio from the Venetians. A bit of everything happens in the final: Candela’s goal canceled by Var, Brunori hits the crossbar, Tutino shortens from a penalty and Nedelcearu devours the equalizer in added time.

Spal-Brescia 2-2
In the play-off salvation Spal and Brescia draw. 2-2 A point that perhaps is of little use to both teams. Oddo confirms the same formation that won in Benevento while Gastaldello recovers Bianchi but brings him to the bench as well as van de Looy returned from suspension while he has to give up the suspended Huard, the injured Papetti and the flu Adryan in addition to the long-term patients Bertagnoli and Galazzi and Coeff for technical choice, while the former shoulder Viviani is out of the squad. Lively game full of shots the scene with Spal ahead after only 38 seconds with a great shot by Maistro. Brescia reacts and equalizes in the 11th minute with a good header from Ayè. Opportunities for both sides with the ex Alfonso saving his goal from capitulating on a conclusion by Rodriguez. Spal very close to scoring with a header from Moncini hitting the bottom of the crossbar. In the second half it was Brescia that held the match and Alfonso kept it afloat with two super saves on conclusions by Jallow and Rodriguez. Then with sixteen minutes to go Maistro hits the target again. But it’s not over Brescia in the 34th minute of the second half equalized with the newcomer Olzer.
