Angri-Portici is suspended in the interval, but the home club denies everything: Nothing happened. Portici reconstructs the story and confidently waits for sports justice to take its course

There was a vicious assault during the race Angri-Porticirecovery of the 16th day of group G of Serie D. A match postponed on 17 December 2022, due to Covid, and played on Wednesday 11 January at the Pasquale Novi stadium in Angri, in the Salerno area.

It all happens in the interval, when the captain of the away team, Maurizio Maraucci, would have been joined in the locker room by some local fans and attacked with kicks, punches and clubs. A story which, however, Angri denies. However, the referee decides to definitively suspend the match on the score of 0-1. The match, in fact, began with Portici’s goal after just three minutes, scored by Pinto. Shortly before the break, Angri had had the chance to equalize with a penalty missed by Varsi. Shortly before the shot, Maraucci would have tried to annoy his opponent Varsi, provocatively tying his boots right on the spot.

Returning for the break, the Portici players were allegedly attacked by a group of three or four hooded people who burst into the locker room and hit the opposing captain. In the scuffle, teammate Filogamo was also injured, intervening in defense of his captain. Maraucci was not taken to the hospital, but he allegedly repaired some injuries and was sedated because he was in a strong state of shock. Hence the definitive suspension of the match by the referee.

The atmosphere – we read in Portici’s reconstruction of the events – warmed up in the 42nd minute when Angri missed the penalty kick for a possible draw and Maraucci became the target of insults and threats on and off the pitch for having “disturbed” the operations of preparation for the rigor. So far, everything has made us think of the usual game dynamics that we witness every Sunday, and nothing let us predict what happened in the locker rooms. in the rest of the statement the host club reconstructs what would have happened. At this moment, it matters little to talk about results on the field, a draw, victory or defeat, and with regard to the match, the bodies in charge of deciding the outcome will be. The certainty that, despite what happened in the interval of the challenge, there is no trace of a winner. Only the trace of a single loser remains: football.

Against, Angri denies everything, contesting the statements circulating on the web by the club and some Portici Calcio members and at this point he wants to clarify his position regarding what “didn’t” happen at the end of the first half of the match played at the Novi stadium. We return to the sender the accusations of aggression against members of the host club, the accusations of the presence of unauthorized people inside the locker rooms, the accusations of an intimidating climate around this match, the accusations of involvement of our members in hypothetical attacks . And finally: The Portici players left the pitch in absolute tranquility after having remained in the corridors of the stadium. We are convinced and confident that sports justice will be able to take its course and attest to the regularity of the competition.

Now, in fact, it will be up to the sports judge to clarify. It’s hard to imagine that the match can be replayed from the moment it was suspended. We are probably going towards 0-3 at the table in favor of Portici. And, if what happened is ascertained, Angri could risk a long disqualification from the field.
