Seven years after the events, that Schwazer case which monopolized the attention of Italian (and not only) public opinion for months and months is definitively closed. With a surprise ending: the filing – requested and obtained by the Bolzano Public Prosecutor’s Office – of the investigation into the perpetrators of the alleged conspiracy against the race walker from Racines, those who allegedly fraudulently tested his testosterone positivity in a home check on January 1, 2016. The same court that filed Schwazer’s position deeming that the athlete had not taken doping has acquitted of all charges the unknown persons who allegedly cheated him.

There are no culprits, the only certainty remains the eight-year disqualification for repeat doping which will expire in 2024. In the 84 pages of the filing of the proceeding against the 2008 50 km Olympic champion, the investigating judge Walter Pelino he had returned the files to the public prosecutor for assessment of the crimes of false ideology, procedural fraud and defamation against him as there was strong evidence that a series of crimes had been committed in an attempt to ascertain the crime. The supplementary investigation did not reveal any elements in favor of this thesis.

Alex Schwazer was not tried because the investigating magistrate, with a deed dated February 18, 2021, deemed it ascertained with a high degree of rational credibility that the urine samples in 2016 were altered to make the athlete test positive and to obtain the disqualification and discredit of the athlete as well as his coach Sandro Donati. Two and a half years later, the prosecutor’s office itself found no evidence against the accusation. For criminal justice Alex Schwazer positive result thanks to a conspiracy but of the authors of that alleged conspiracy and of the conspiracy itself there is no evidence.
