School dropout, the project “A school du measure”, the courageous attempt to mitigate the incredible inequalities in education in Italy

ROME – The project to combat early school leaving “A tailor-made school” it is an opportunity for rebirth for teenagers who have lost faith in school, who have withdrawn and risk losing their “train” towards the future. Anyone who follows the events of this organization – underlines a document released – ” knows what it is: a team of teachers, educators and psychologists at the completely free service of less fortunate children and families”. The project was selected by the Community Foundation of the province of Pavia Onlus as the recipient of a grant of 10,000 euros. The goal was to reach the total funding for at least 10% by today, November 30th. At the moment we have reached half of the objective that the notice requires in order to receive the contribution of 9000 euros.

How to contribute. “There is only time until December 15 to raise another 500 euros”, specifies the note from the Association. The number of the phenomenon in Italy. According to data released by Save The Children last September, then reported and commented by Luigi Manconi on Repubblica.it, one million 382 thousand minors live in absolute poverty; early school leaving is now 12.7%, while young people aged between 15 and 29 without education, vocational training or work, are at 23.1%, more than in any other European country. That’s not all, because the structural inequalities of public schools, with regard to spaces and services, such as the canteen, full-time, the gym and the presentability of the buildings, further amplify the gap from one area to another for minors in conditions of economic and social disadvantage.
