A week of events, in favor of the Ukrainian people, with the moral patronage of the Municipality of Salerno, one year after the Russian invasion. This is what they organized in the historic center of Salerno, from 9 to 15 February, in the spaces of the Camera Chiara Gallery, Rita Martinova, a Ukrainian teacher who has lived in the Campania capital for over twenty years, and Armando Cerzosimo, a well-known art and beauty photographer. A week of reflection, of testimonies, of meetings, to raise a wall against the circulation of hatred and enmity, to support those who take care of the lives of others, always, however and everywhere, without distinction of any kind, to continue to stand in solidarity with the Ukrainians and with the victims of all the forgotten wars that continue to bloodied the world. Guest of the event was the deputy mayor Paky Memoli who last March as a doctor went to pick up over one hundred women and children on the border with Poland, through the humanitarian corridor.


The photographic exhibition

«Things that think Ukraine 20222023 – Installation, testimonies and photographs», is the photographic exhibition which will be inaugurated on Thursday 9, at 7 pm, by the art critic Cristina Tafuri, by Rita Martinova and by the deputy mayor Paky Memoli. On display are shots taken by Cerzosimo of Ukrainian women and children, disturbing witnesses of the horror and tragedy of these times, victims of a war that is destroying a people and its territory. Each person holds an object, a book, a painting, «the things they think», which reminds us of their land, their belongings, everything they have left behind. The following day, Friday 10, at 7 pm, a debate on “Photography as a message” with Cerzosimo himself, Martinova and Marco Russo, president of the «Tempi Moderni» association.

The charity auction

On Saturday 11 February, at 6 pm, a charity auction will take place, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Ukrainian population through the Italian Red Cross section of Salerno, chaired by Antonio Carucci. The auctioneer of this auction is the journalist Gabriele Bojano, flanked by the art critic Cristina Tafuri and Rita Martinova. Two lots of works by the greatest contemporary Ukrainian artist, Ol’Svol’d. On Monday 13 February, at 7 pm, there will be a discussion on the theme of hospitality and support for people at war, with Antonia Autuori, president of the Fondazione Comunità Salernitana, and Tommaso D’Angelo, director of the newspaper Le Cronache. Last meeting, before the finissage set for February 15, Tuesday 14, at 7 pm, with the testimonies of Ukrainian women, who have their husbands, their loved ones in war, in the trenches, on the theme “Love in the time of war”.
