Salernitana-Monza 3-0: Coulibaly, Kastanos and Candreva sign the relaunch of the grenade

Back to winning (and scoring) the Salernitana after three games, and does so by beating the Monza 3-0 to Arechi and giving the first success to Paulo Sousa. After the bitter debut against Lazio, the Portuguese coach has the winning intuition of inserting Kastanos in midfield and moving Candreva behind Piatek, both of whom scored in the match. The goal that unlocks the game is a magic from Coulibaly at the start of the second half. Fundamental victory for the grenade, the first at home after a fast of over four months, three golden points for salvation. Second stop in a row for Palladino’s Monza.

Opportunities for Candreva and Piatek, Ochoa mura Ciurria

Many chances in a goalless first half which ends abruptly for several minutes before the half hour due to a violent aerial clash between team mates Cragno and Pablo Marì in which Caldirola and Daniliuc are also involved: the first two have the worst they lose blood from their forehead and can only resume play after showy medications. For the rest, at the start you can see Salernitana more with Candreva and Piatek who each have a couple of chances and four times miss the door by a matter of centimetres. Before the break, on the other hand, Monza came close to taking the lead: a cross with the right timing from Caldirola’s left, a header in the center of the area by Cyurria and Ochoa’s providential rebuff to deny the guest network.

The recovery is a grenade monologue. Sousa’s team unlocks the match in the 52nd minute: Coulibaly, on Candreva’s side, invents a shot from the edge of the area that ends behind an innocent Cragno. The response from the Brianza is immediate, but Ochoa rejects Dany Mota’s close shot. In the 21st minute the goal was doubled: the fast counter-attack led to Kastanos’ 2-0, also helped by an unfortunate deflection by Pablo Marì which facilitated his first intention shot. The second goal knocks down Monza and Salernitana drops the trio: yet another ball recovery leads to Candreva’s goal, able to throw himself on Cragno’s rebound after a Piatek shot. In the final, the Polish striker devours the 4-0 by kicking sky high with practically unguarded goal. Nightmare afternoon for Palladino’s team that ends the match in ten due to the double yellow card remedied by Donati.
