The absurd story of the arrest of “Rambo” D’Onofrio, chief prosecutor of whistles by day and drug trafficker by night, is having the effect of an institutional storm. An emergency federal council has been convened for tomorrow in Rome “for political reflection”. A summit that promises to be fiery, with the president of the Football Federation, Gravina, who wants to get to the bottom of the question. The explanation in The Hague on Saturday evening, which in fact discharges the responsibility by saying that it was D’Onofrio who failed to report the arrest, was not considered convincing. The top referees continue to firmly reiterate that they have never had the slightest doubt about D’Onofrio“Not even an anonymous phone call”, swear from the building, even if they cannot explain how no one had noticed the absence of the chief prosecutor during the arrest in 2020.

The referees, who also suspect overhead cover, are in the eye of the storm. Who expected the resignation of the president Trentalange and his deputy Baglioni was disappointed: they have no intention.
