Lorenzo Pellegrini stops. The Giallorossi captain suffered a lacerated and contused wound in the fronto-parietal area: a bad cut, which forced doctors to put 30 stitches on him. He will therefore not be with Sassuolo next Sunday, he will be evaluated again on Monday and there will be more certainties on recovery times. Pellegrini hopes to be there in the second leg with Real Sociedad in the round of 16 of the Europa League, scheduled for Thursday 16 March.

It was immediately understood that the problem was serious. After the fight with Zubeldia in the 57th minute, Pellegrini left the field bleeding with an ice pack on the wound. After being taken care of already at the stadium, he ended up at Villa Stuart where he spent the night, also in the company of his wife. He did further tests which have averted the head injury and on Friday morning he was discharged.

The bad news for Jos Mourinho does not end here, as he also lost the striker Andrea Belotti: the striker from Bergamo suffered a fractured wrist and will not be available to the Portuguese coach on Sunday with Sassuolo. Recovery times are yet to be determined. Against the Spaniards Real Sociedad got a good victory, a 2-0 which mortgaged the passage of the round, but these two stops really weren’t needed.
