Frank Rijkaard turns 60 today, Friday 30th August. Together with Marco Van Basten and Ruud Gullit he was one of the symbols of Arrigo Sacchi’s Milan, capable of winning everything. He was European champion in 1988 with the Netherlands, the only trophy won by the Orange national team, after losing two World Finals respectively against West Germany and Argentina in 1974 and 1978. Born as a central defender, he established himself as a striker first and then as a finisher. His father, Herman, a former player from Suriname. And Frank made his 17-year-old debut in Ajax, before wearing the shirts of Real Zaragoza and Sporting Lisbon. Five seasons at Milan and two more with the Lancieri shirt, with which he ended his career in 1995. Among his many career triumphs, he won three Champions: 1989 and 1990 with Milan and 1995 with Ajax, in his own final against the Rossoneri.
