Right-wing culture in Italy? here it is

It would be easy, grinning and stupid to write a piece on right-wing culture that is all in the cemetery, obviously starting with Dante who really was very right-handed and those who don’t know have read Paolo and Francesca to the fullest. It would be melancholy to write a piece on living right-wing culture as an exclusively French culture, starting obviously with Michel Houellebecq, the greatest living right-wing intellectual, therefore the greatest living intellectual, and then with all the names that he has given us on these pages made known, or known better, Giulio Meotti: Bruckner, Finkielkraut, Redeker… Instead I came to the conclusion that right-wing culture still exists today and even in Italy. It’s just that he often takes care not to define himself as such. Partly to escape the cultural dictatorship of the left (if you write what you think about immigration then who do you publish with?). Partly so as not to get confused with fascism (in Italy there is the eternal problem of fascism/right wing confusion, which the successes of the Brothers of Italy seem to exacerbate rather than solve). Partly so as not to get confused even with the right, a dualist and politicist position (for example, I define myself conservative, a good way to make enemies everywhere since its opposite, the squanderer, can obviously be leftist, but can be, less obviously and yet increasingly frequently, right-wing as well).
