Renewables in Piedmont: financing for the energy efficiency of companies

The interventions

The notice “Energy efficiency and renewable energy in companies”supported by the European Regional Development Fund 2021-27, provides for two lines of intervention.

• The first, with an endowment of 68 million eurosis aimed at rationalization of production cycles, efficient use of energy, development of innovative processes aimed at saving energy. Also allowed energy efficiency measures at the production sites through building interventions of any type.
• The second line of intervention, with an endowment of 23.8 millionis intended for support for the production of energy from renewable sources, such as the installation of cogeneration plants, the production of electricity through the exploitation of hydraulic and solar photovoltaic energy, the production of geothermal, solar thermal or biomass energy, the production of green hydrogen from renewable electricity, the creation of accumulation or storage systems of energy. Renewable source plants must in any case be combined with energy efficiency interventions such as rationalization of production cycles, efficient use of energy, installation of building automation systems.

All companies involved

Beneficiaries of the tender are micro, small, medium and large enterprises operating throughout the region, without limits in relation to the type of activity carried out. For micro, small and medium are eligible investments of a minimum amount of 80,000 euros for energy efficiency and 100,000 euros for plants from renewable sources up to a maximum of three million euros. For large companies, on the other hand, strategic investments of between 500,000 and five million euros are eligible. Award criteria are envisaged in the evaluation of projects for those presented by micro and small enterprises.

Fully covered investments

The intervention will be able to cover up to 100% of the eligible costs of the investment, divided between a zero-interest loan and a non-repayable grant. In particular:

• For the micro and small enterprises funding equal to at least 70% of eligible costs and a contribution of up to a maximum of 30% of eligible costs.
• For the medium enterprises funding of at least 80% of eligible costs and a grant up to a maximum of 20%.
• For the large companies funding will come 90% and the contribution up to a maximum of 10%. Also admitted combination with state tax breaks on the same expenses envisaged by the tender, avoiding in any case over-financing.

The presentation of applications according to the “counter” method is scheduled from 9.00 on 30 March 2023 and until 12.00 on 29 September 2023. Applications must be submitted exclusively electronically. All information on the regional website.
