Record project in the Euganean Hills: the deepest swimming pool in the world is built

The May 2, 2013 is the date on which the first stone was laid that started the story of Y-40 The Deep Joy and its entry in the Guinness World Record for the deepest swimming pool in the world; May 2, 2023, just ten years later, is the date on which the Paduan spa facility doubles.

The project provides for the new structure at the foot of the Euganean Hills a cylinder with an exceptional diameter of 12 meters, as never before proposed in deep structures. It will be built to the east of the current Y-40 in the park of the Hotel Terme Millepini, it will reach a depth of 30 meters and will also be filled using hyperthermal salsobromoiodic water of deep origin between 32° and 34°C in temperature.

It will be a scientific-technological laboratory high-level, useful for medical research – diving and aerospace, able to study the reactions of pressure changes on the human body, in collaboration with universities around the world. A place available to research centres for immersing large spacecraft, usable for experimentation in weightlessness.

It will be a international training center for charities and bodies specialized in research and recovery, in the confidentiality that these groups require for their tests. The fact that this structure does not have a roof and is open to the sky, will also be able to accommodate simulations of the rescuers at sea, approaching the surface of the water with means in flight, descending from above.

Finally, it will be one studio for film productions with special effectsprofessional instrumentation and the possibility of recreating multiple scenarios by adapting them to the different requests and contexts, artistic or documentary. A context that will be able to faithfully reproduce marine and naturalistic scenarios, sets adaptable to different aquatic realities, able to accommodate scenographies with giant structures. Thanks to the underwater glass that completely surrounds it at a depth of 5 metres, it will be possible to go around the entire cylinder for attend animation and dance shows performed in the water, like spectators of a real underwater theatre. Thus, it will also be a major attractor of tourist flows as Y-40 has already been in these first ten years of life.
