After the Santoriello case, another one arrives relating to Piero Sandulli. Who has decided to suspend himself from the position of vice president of the second section of the Collegio di Garanzia dello Sport, the one responsible for disciplinary issues FIGC. A decision that comes after the controversy raised by the utterances of Sandulli himself in an interview, in relation to the sentence of the Federal Court of Appeal of the FIGC on the capital gains case which saw Juventus penalized by 15 points. Already on that occasion, the Collegio di Garanzia dello Sport had clarified that these declarations were issued on an exclusively personal basis and do not bind the Collegio di Garanzia dello Sport or its members in any way.

However, it should be noted that Sandulli he would not have been among the judges called to evaluate the Juventus case, which has been entrusted to the United Sections of the Guarantee College of which Sandulli is not a member. In the interview given to Tuttosport Sandulli explained that on the capital gains side the difference in the Juventus case compared to the other teams involved, a difference that allowed the previous sentences to be revoked can be found in the fact that Juventus is a company listed on the Stock Exchange. The revocation first and then the sentence – Sandulli explained – were based on the elements that emerged during the investigations produced by Consob, which by definition can naturally supervise only the clubs present in Piazza Affari. In this regard, in all honesty, I would have expected some evolutions on the subject. I was confident that the recent sporting reform would deal with this issue, which at the moment remains a vulnus to the system. Hence the penalty against the Juventus and the lack of sanctions against all the other companies involved. I do not consider it a disparity, but a different treatment on the basis of different previous choices. This condition, in fact, is accepted by the club when it enters the Stock Exchange. And in fact we arrived at the current sentence precisely on the basis of the Consob investigation, which led to the existence of unpublished facts compared to last April, when Juventus was acquitted.

Evidently for Sandulli, also in the light of the clarification of the Board of Guarantee that occurred after his statements, he decided to suspend him in order to avoid that one could even think of his possible influence on the verdict of the Board in the case in question.
