Photos and technical analysis of the new Mercedes W14: black to lose weight, more powerful engine and lightened chassis

In 2022 the biggest victim of the infamous porpoising was Mercedes. Unexpectedly, Toto Wolff’s team started the year with a consistent gap, around 7/8 tenths compared to Ferrari and Red Bull. The Brackley technicians worked hard to correct the W13, returning towards the end of the year with a decent performance. The “zero-belly concept” has not been abandoned by engineers despite early results suggesting otherwise. Even the new W14, as well as the Ferrari SF-23 and Red Bull seems to continue in its evolution, however with an updated design that in some respects has changed taking inspiration from the competition.
