After the forced stop, due to the lack of water to ensure adequate and safe navigation of the Po river, the organizers managed to make the 70th edition of the Pavia-Venice International Powerboat Raid official.

One of the oldest and most fascinating powerboating events, organized by the Pavia Powerboating Association and the Venice Powerboating Association, will be held on Sunday 4 June 2023.

Great satisfaction on the part of the organizers Angelo Poma (Pavia Powerboating Association) and Giampaolo Montavoci (President of the Venice Powerboating Association) for the event which will take place under the aegis of the FIM (Italian Powerboating Federation). Despite the forced stop, the international appeal of the raid has not faded, with the participation of around 150 team boats from all over the world.

There will be the 10 times F1 Powerboating World Champion Guido Cappellini (current Team Manager of Abu Dhabi), who will race with an F1 boat with an experimental engine, the World Champion Fabrizio Bocca who will race with his son Oleg in a two-seater F2 boat, Ottavio Missoni, Paolo Romagnoli (second overall in the 2021 Raid with Lucini Racer 2000 boat), the Cesati family (builders of the Albatro shipyard), Tullio Abbate of the Abbate shipyard and many other pilots who competed multiple times in the Raid. Also present were the titled jet ski pilots Michele Cadei and Alessandro Zamarian.

Administrative and technical checks will take place on 2 and 3 June, as well as the pilots’ meeting at the headquarters of the Pavia Powerboat Association. On Sunday 4, however, there will be the transfer to San Nazzaro D’Ongina (Piacenza), where staggered departures will begin from 7 am. From there the transfer by water to Boretto will take place, which will last at least 60 minutes and will be documented by the timekeepers. From Boretto the timed time will start without refueling, while in Correggio Micheli–Bagnolo San Vito (55 km after Boretto) there will be the optional refueling, with time neutralized. The timed time will end in Volta Grimana and from Brondolo there will be the parade of the prize-winners, up to the Venice Arsenale.

The award ceremony will take place right inside the Arsenale, on the closing day of the Venice Boat Show.
