One hundred leave, only one arrives: renewable projects decimated by bureaucracy

Three hundred to three. It is the proportion between the possible and the real when it comes to renewable energy. A factor of one hundred that illustrates, better than any analysis, the gap between what could be done, in terms of wind and photovoltaic plants, and what actually materializes. The numbers are relentless: in 2022 the requests forwarded to Terna, the operator of the national electricity grid, for the “connection of renewable initiatives” reached a total of around 300 gigawatts (there were 150 gigawatts at the beginning of the year), but by the end of December will have really been finished and connected to the grid just about 3 gigawatts of wind and photovoltaic fields.
