On August 8, the president of Barcelona Joan Laporta announced the club's reckless financial manoeuvre, determined to buffer a gigantic 1.3 billion euro budget shortfall by transferring large percentages (between 20 and 25 percent) of the TV rights for the next 25 years to an American fund in advance: with that money he had managed to finance the purchases of Lewandowski, Kessié, Raphinha, Koundéall more or less decisive for the 27th national title, arithmetic in a few weeks.
