A geopolitical focus 10 years after Margaret Thatcher’s death and 25 after the Good Friday Agreement. And then a dialogue on the fate of the novel, with the incipit of The Supreme Investigation by Alberto Casadei today in the App. And on social media, in the week leading up to Easter, the president of the Italian bishops suggests a book a day

A focus on the world chessboard, a Hollywood star, and much more in the new issue of la Lettura, #592, Saturday 1 April preview in the App
and Sunday 2 April on newsstands.

It opens with the international panorama: 10 years after the death of Margaret Thatcher and 25 after the Good Friday Agreement between nationalist Catholics and unionist Protestants faithful in Londonthe Northern Irish question remains one of the most thorny raised by Brexit, despite the agreement of 22 March between the United Kingdom and the European Union. Paolo Gheda writes about it, while on the subject Luigi Ippolito interviews Audrey Magee, author of the novel The colony (Bollati Boringhieri), which narrates the long season of violence, and the historian Fulvio Cammarano traces English history in an imaginary dialogue with Thatcher herself. Other hot spots in the world: the discomfort of the Kurdish diaspora in Paris, told by Alessandra Coppola; on Syria hit by war, the poet Nouri al-Jarrah responds to Marta Serafini; and former Australian premier Kevin Rudd, interviewed by Samuele Finetti, illustrates the position of Xi Jinping, the Chinese leader with whom he met several times.

The Reading App for smartphones and tablets (downloadable from the App Store and Google Play) offers subscribers a preview of the new issue on Saturday, the archive with all the releases since 2011 and the Theme of the Day, a digital-only daily extra. Subscribing costs 3.99 euros per month or 39.99 per year, with one week free. The subscription can also be subscribed from the desktop starting from this page. In Books, the novel cloud by Alberto Casadei (The Supreme Investigationil Saggiatore, from 7 April) the opportunity for a dialogue with contemporary literature scholars Daniela Brogi and Gianluigi Simonetti, edited by Alessia Rastelli: the incipit of the book the Theme of the Day, the digital-only extra newspaper, on Saturday April 1 in the App de la Lettura, and there is also a video, indeed a visual correlative.

At the end of the supplement, a writer who no longer writes, Fran Lebowitz, but it fills theaters (it will be at the Arcimboldi in Milan on May 5th), it tells Cecilia Bressanelli about its New York. And the director, screenwriter and comedian Steve Martin wrote (but not drawn) a comic autobiography (Number one is meSilhouette Editore, the drawings are by Harry Bliss): he talks about it to Stefania Ulivi.

On Twitter, in the week leading up to Easter, the followers of @Reading
they find the advice of tomorrow Matthew Maria Zuppi: the archbishop of Bologna, president of the CEI, created cardinal by Pope Francis, suggests a book a day.
