What is evil? How does it affect us? What can we do? The new issue of «la Lettura», #573, Sunday 20 in the App and on newsstands with «Corriere della Sera», opens with a conversation on the roots of evil between the theologian Andrew Toniolo and the psychoanalyst Luigi Zojawho sign two books on the subject: Bad
(Messenger Editions) e Dialogues on Evil (Borlati Boringhieri). In the dialogue edited by Ida Bozzi, the two authors discuss the evil that has no explanations, the one provoked; the private or the public one… Sunday 20 November, Ida Bozzi herself takes care of the Theme of the Day, an extra-daily focus of the «La Lettura» App dedicated to the dark side of humanity explored through the villains of literature by the characters of Stevenson to those of Dostoevsky

Ample space is also dedicated to writers in the insert. It starts with Charles Dickens and Jonathan Coe who in their books have been able to tell about political, social and cultural changes in England, through the stories of ordinary men. The texts by Cristina Taglietti (on the works of Dickens retranslated for Mattioli1885) and by Fulvio Cammarano (on the new novel by Coe, BournvilleFeltrinelli) open a focus which also collects a text by Emmanuel Trevi on Rudyard Kipling and Luigi Ippolito’s interview with the writer Francis Spufford.

The novel that “redesigned criminal Naples” is instead dedicated a text by Maurice de Giovanni: the book he writes about is Dog nosewritten in 1982 by Attilio Veraldi and now republished by Homo Scrivens.

Jonathan Lethem writes of photographer Gregory Crewdson, grew up like him in Ronald Reagan’s America; the text is accompanied by an article by Annachiara Sacchi. In Afghanistan he leads finally the report by Edoardo Albinati and Francesca d’Aloja, who made the trip to the country with the humanitarian organization Intersos.

In the «Themes» section of the App, all the focuses are available, including that of Saturday 19 November on ongoing space missions. Giovanni Caprara writes about it, who in the supplement on newsstands and the App talks about the restoration of the diaries of the astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli, who directed the Brera Observatory in Milan.

The App of «la Lettura» (downloadable from the App Store and Google Play) offers, in addition to the Theme of the Day, the most recent number of the preview insert already on Saturday and all the archive of issues released since 2011.
