“No more dramas” at the cinema: independent films are better. It’s the law of the market, beauty

Anything that is perceived as busy is boring. So go on with original stories and productions, perhaps with a genre connotation: horror above all, complete with spirits and demons

Producers, lenders, buyers and distributors – gathered at the European Film Market which runs alongside the Berlinale from 16 to 22 February – have clear ideas. “Enough Drama”. They talk about the films that we will see in the coming months. Screenplays that will go into production, with a good chance of finding money and an audience. And of the screenplays that will remain on the desks, passing from hand to hand without anyone keeping them. Starting certain productions, assuming the money can be found, is a risk that no one wants to take. We are speaking, of course, of cinemas where there is a business risk and not everything is covered before the film goes into theatres.
