The representation of the past, within us, is a complex undertaking. The world of yesterday is constantly shaped by the fire of the present or by a nervous system that throws a tantrum. A temporal (and mental) dimension that therefore takes on unexpected forms and in which the professor emeritus of Psychobiology Alberto Oliverio will try to put order with the lectio magistralis Remembering and forgetting. Memory and Neuroscience scheduled for tomorrow, November 8, at 10 in the Aula Magna Gaetano Salvatore of the School of Medicine and Surgery of the Federico II Universitythe first appointment of the International Research Week which will offer numerous scientific workshops and cultural initiatives until 11 November.
Author of over 400 educational and popular essays, Oliverio will analyze the relationship between behavior and brain structures by inserting the purely medical dissertation into a broader reasoning on man and society.. The professor emeritus of the Sapienza University of Rome will treat for us the theme of memory without technicality, even with literary references, inviting us to compare ourselves with other areas of thought, explains Nelson Mauro Maldonato, scientific director of the International Research Week. A dialogue that will involve the clinical psychologist of Federico II Mario Bottone, the journalist Antonio Fiore, historical editor-in-chief of the Corriere del Mezzogiorno, the philosopher Dario Giugliano, the writer Diego Nuzzo and the psychoanalyst Paola Russo of the Italian Association of Analytical Psychology.
The theme of memory is associated with reflection on the future of consciousness, a topic at the center of the sixteenth edition of the “Week” designed to offer the opportunity for comparison to many Italian and foreign scholars of different disciplines. Our review – says Maldonato – allows us to shed light on little-explored issues such as the awareness of the artificial world and the need for an ethical look. At the center of the research, however, there is man and his relationship with power in the modern world.
