Two days after the “crime”, Jean Freddi Greco met with the Eleven Sports commentator (a contributor to the platform, the contract has been suspended). Thursday evening, during Trento-LR Vicenza, Carta had mistakenly christened the red and white midfielder “Negro”. The broadcaster had immediately apologized for the incident: “It was an unforgivable slip by the journalist, which was immediately corrected”.

Jean Freddi Greco, 21, was born in Madagascar and was adopted by an Italian family at the age of three. He has also played in various national selections (U17, U19 and U20). The “new surname”, linked to the player’s skin color, had caused the controversy to explode. Forza Italia senator from Vicenza Pierantonio Zanettin had also presented a question to the ministers of sport and economic development: “No indulgence when there is an episode of racism”. In the morning, however, the two protagonists of the story, Greco and Carta, met and embraced: “Given the final result of the match, we hope to see you commenting on another of our matches soon. ” wrote the player on Facebook. Vicenza won on the Trento field and is now fourth in the standings in group A of Serie C.
