Musetti out in the quarterfinals in Stuttgart against Tiafoe

Red disc to the quarterfinals for Lorenzo Musetti at the grass court tournament Stuttgart. The 21-year-old Tuscan, number 17 in the world and seeded number 6, was defeated 6-7(6) 7-6(4) 6-2, after almost two hours and three quarters of the match, by the American Frances Tiafoe, 12 in the ranking and third seeding favourite. After canceling four set points Musetti won the first set at the tie break, in the second it was Tiafoe who equalized the accounts again at the tie break. The third set was almost without history, the American went up 3-0 with two breaks, Musetti tried to react by recovering a break but then gave up again allowing Tiafoe to close 6-2 and detach the pass for the semifinals.

Sinner challenges Ruusuvuori in the Netherlands

In the ‘s-Hertogenbosch tournament Jannik Sinner faces the Finn in the quarterfinals Emil Ruusuvuori, n. 42 Atp, which he hit 5 times out of 5 in his career (4 on hard courts and once on clay). He has always prevailed in two sets except in the first round of the Masters 1000 in Miami last year in which he managed to prevail only by 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (10/8) canceling 3 match-points in the final tie-break. Sinner will play the fourth match on central court. The program will start at 11 with two women’s singles matches: Aliaksandra Sasnovich-Liudmila Samsonova and Emina Bektas-Ekaterina Alexandrova (not before 12.30). Then there will be the confrontation between Tallon Griekspoor and Alex de Minaur (not before 2.30pm), then it will be Sinner’s turn, predictably around 4.30pm.
