Lega Calcio against complying with the requests of some Naples city councilors to move the match against Salernitana to the same time as Inter-Lazio for reasons of public order. But the inclusion of De Laurentiis could change the situation

Move Naples-Salernitana from Saturday 29 April to Sunday “to protect public order and security” and prevent “possible unfortunate episodes”. This is the request of some municipal councilors of Naples sent to the Prefect, Claudio Palomba, and to the mayor, Gaetano Manfredi. In short, playing simultaneously with Inter-Lazio, the match that could give Spalletti the certainty of the Scudetto. A proposal that, at the moment, the Municipality has not extended it to the Lega Calcio, which also has no intention of postponing the match. But the president of Naples, Aurelio De Laurentiis, enters the matter, urged by the Prefect of Naples again for reasons of public order. The patron of the Neapolitans is trying to figure out if there is a way to postpone the game.

The facts. If Napoli were to win against Salernitana on the next matchday, and at the same time Lazio were not to beat Inter at the San Siro, arithmetically it would be the Scudetto. The two matches are scheduled on different days: Napoli-Salernitana on Saturday 29 April at 3pm, Inter-Lazio on Sunday at 12.30. Hence the solicitations of some municipal councilors and the Prefect. “In consideration of the now probable and imminent victory of the Scudetto – reads the letter from Gaetano Simeone, president of the city’s Infrastructure, Mobility and Civil Protection Commission – and in order to protect public order and prevent any unfortunate episodes due to the chaos that could be generated, we ask to evaluate the opportunity to discuss the postponement of the championship match Napoli vs Salernitana at the table on safety ».

The Municipality of Naples has not yet followed up on these requests: no request has been received by Lega Calcio. On Wednesday there will be a meeting in the Prefecture on public order: in that venue the possible request to postpone the match, which remains difficult, will be evaluated. The League does not seem willing to postpone the match also because the following Tuesday, May 2nd, Napoli must play Udine for the midweek round. In other words, having only one day of rest between the eventual Napoli-Salernitana match on Sunday 30 and the match against Udinese. Hence the “no” to the possible date change. But with the inclusion of De Laurentiis things could quickly change.
