MotoGp, Germany: Martin wins the sprint race, Bagnaia is second

Spaniard Jorge Martin swept the Sachsenring sprint race by storm and brought his gap in the standings to -21 points from world champion Pecco Bagnaia, who will start from pole tomorrow in the German GP and finished Saturday’s race in 2nd place. Once again a Ducati double, the bikes from Borgo Panigale seem unbeatable: today’s podium is completed by the Australian Miller, riding a KTM. The ordeal of Marc Marquez continues, who crashed twice with his Honda in qualifying and then finished very far away, 11th: again zero points for the Cannibal from Cervera, who in his Saxon “garden” experienced the most burning of defeats. Bezzecchi put on a softer tire up front, it went badly for him: only 3 points for the rider from Rimini, 7th at the finish line. Another 4th place for Luca Marini, but the weekend has just begun: tomorrow ‘Maro’ starts from the front row, and is the favorite together with the usual, amazing Bagnaia. In the standings Pecco is always ahead with 140 points but now Martin is in 2nd place (119). Bezzecchi slips into third position (113). The rest of the ranking remains unchanged with Binder, Zarco and Martin.

Pecco: “Congratulations to Jorge, good challenge”

Martin kisses the front fairing of his Gp23 and celebrates: “I enjoyed the final laps a lot, while at the beginning I was at the limit. I passed both of them but I lost the front: I kept my balance, I continued to manage. Let’s hope tomorrow we can fight for the win.” Pecco Bagnaia, 9 precious points in the standings: “It was a very enjoyable first part of the race, a good challenge with Jack but then Jorge was really too fast today: congratulations, he deserves this success. We’ll see how things go tomorrow”. Jack Miller always smiles: “It seemed to me that I had a good start, but in reality the bike ran away a bit from me: a good battle with the others, I tried to stay close to Pecco but it wasn’t easy. The podium is still a good result”.

What a disaster, Japanese motorcycles

Pecco had started in front but lost energy in an exciting – and dangerous – duel with Miller: Martin took advantage of this by passing both of them at the end of the fourth lap and from that moment he began to impose an impossible pace, closing after 15 laps with 2 seconds and half ahead of Bagnaia. Zarco also scores points, 5th after an impressive final overtaking on Binder. Alex Marquez 8th and Aleix Espargarò’s Aprilia blows away 9th place by 24 thousandths and the last point up for grabs to Bastianini. The disaster of the Japanese continues: Marc Marquez is the best of the Hondas, Quartararo is 13th with the Yamaha (and Morbidelli 15th).
