Starting in 1962, holding the position of head of the technical department for F1 racing cars and the Sport prototypes category, Forghieri drove the Modenese supercars to the victory of 54 world championship grand prix, four drivers ‘world titles and seven constructors’ titles; moreover, in his long activity in Maranello, he introduced new technical elements that have marked the history of engines, such as, for example, the installation of ailerons on vehicles whizzing on the tracks.

At the end of the eighties the engineer then left the Ferrari to land first at Lamborghini and then at Bugatti, always maintaining the innovative character that has characterized his career. On 13 January, on the occasion of his 87th birthday, the Municipality of Modena had conferred honorary citizenship on him, in particular for his contribution to the development of the Motor valley, an area – explained on that occasion the mayor Gian Carlo Muzzarelli – where the passion for mechanics has a long tradition and where factories of car brands were born that have contributed to making the name of Modena known in the world.
