Inside a gallery on his Instagram profile Melissa Satta hid the first non-“stolen” photo with Matthew Berrettini. It’s not the shot taken last January, of the two of them in the stands for the Euroleague basketball match between Olimpia Milano and Lyon Villeurbane. And it’s not the few seconds in which the cameras searched for and found them on the night of February 5 at San Siro, when they were enjoying the Inter-Milan derby. No no, this is joy shouted to the whole world: “We are together.” The Miami beach was the scene of the declaration via social media, where Satta and Berrettini took a short vacation, after he had been beaten in the first round of the Masters 1000 by Mackenzie McDonald.

Matteo holds the cell phone, hat with visor worn backwards, two necklaces hanging. Melissa also has a cap and kisses the tennis player from behind, on her cheek. No need for accompanying captions. The only word that they grant us, before returning to the Pelican Hotel slalom between posted pararazzi, is the “Ciao” with which Berrettini accompanies the photo, after sharing his partner’s post in her stories.

Words – too many, ugly and useless words – dirty the edges of the photo instead. The haters never miss an opportunity and, taking a cue from Matteo’s crisis of results, use the keyboard as a club, rather than a racket: “And this too is ready for Big Brother”, writes one. “You end up like Boateng”, another sleazy comments, referring to the showgirl’s ex-husband, Kevin Prince Boateng, with whom he had his son Maddox in 2014. “Berrettini, have you forgotten the ATP?” asks a user who must consider tennis players as asexual people. “And we played this too”, says a person who is the custodian of absolute truths. And so on, banalities upon banalities.

Nonsense interrupted by glimpses of common sense: “Lindos and Maravilhosos…full stop…..I love you and wish you all the happiness in the world…”. “So many sexist losers!”, writes a follower of Melissa. AND Sasadancer he wonders: “A question to all those who spit venom: how are your livers at the moment?”. And down a bunch of laughter emoticons. Games, sets and matches. In Miami, Melissa and Matteo won.
