Massimo Cellino, 66, has resigned as president of Brescia after five years due to his legal troubles. The owner of the Rondinelle has decided not to be the president anymore, as mentioned in the last Board of Directors, and not for purely sporting reasons: in fact, he would no longer be able to devote time to managing the club given the rules and limitations deriving from the consequences of the judicial inquiry concerning him for the purchase of an area to be used as a sports center (a hearing, originally set for 24 October, postponed to 30 January 2023 and the mayor of Brescia Roberta Sisti, a councilor and a member of the town planning commission) and the seizure of 55 million euros which took place last year for an accusation of tax evasion. Furthermore, in a few weeks – on December 9 – there will also be a hearing that has a lot to do with sport: the former world champion Fabio Grosso, who led the rondinelle for three Serie A matches in the autumn of 2020 to replace Eugenio Corini, ending up exonerated, on 6 October he asked Cellino for severance pay but did not get it.
