The comedy conceived by Niccol Falsetti and Francesco Turbanti on the epic story of a punk band from Grosseto in the running for first works and also for the best song

The journey of Margins continues. Already writing we realized that the characters still had a way in the legs, now we’ll make them run. It had taken Niccol Falsetti and Francesco Turbanti seven years to make their comedy, the punk epic of a street hardcore band from Grosseto, the Wait for Nothing, which from Critics’ Week in Venice (where it won the audience award) reached to the double nomination for the David di Donatello (first film and best song, The swamp). And now it becomes a TV series. Written by the two friends with the film’s co-writer Tommaso Renzoni, for the same production team (Disparte, Manetti Bros and Fandango). We will find the members of the group again— Michele (Turbanti himself), Edoardo (Emanuele Linfatti) and Iacopo (Matteo Creatini) — a few years after the events of the film, set in 2008, centered around the attempt to bring the (phantom) American band Defense (played by the Romans Payback) to Grosseto. The ending was open, for each of them a dilemma was posed, summarized by one of the cult pieces of punk, Should I Stay or Should I Go of the Clash. Leave the province behind or stay and live in regret for lost opportunities? We will follow in depth the various characters of the film, not just the three protagonists. We were inspired by a film that we love very much, This is England by Shane Meadows, which later became a series. We’d like to do something similar
.

In the film there were Silvia D’Amico, Valentina Carnelutti, Nicola Rignanese, Zerocalcare but only in voice and drawings. Ours is a rallying call, let’s hope everyone picks it up. The start of filming to be determined. Certainly the Grosseto Maremma will not be missing. A place where nothing happens, one is on the margins and relationships are cemented. Their Maremma that has conquered audiences from all over the world, up to Argentina. In June we will be at a festival in New York. Meanwhile, on May 10 there is the ceremony of the Davids.

All for a film that took shape when Falsetti and Turbanti were kids and they cultivated it together passion for punk (with a band called Pegs) and for the cinema, from the small town (As we say in the film: always two hours away from everything). An American band they and friends really carried it: it was Madball, in 2007. The Pegs still exist, tell the two friends. But the tour of the film went better: released in theaters in September after its passage to the Lido, thanks to the tam tam it became a small cult and continued to be accompanied by authors and cast around the Italian cinemas and festivals. And Molto Margini fest, also thanks to a soundtrack for connoisseurs: pieces like On the edge of the Last (hence the title), Die Hard of paybacks, Burn with life of Negation, This years of the Kinas. E La palude – music and lyrics by Niccol Falsetti, Giacomo Pieri, Alessio Ricciotti, Francesco Turbanti; interpreted by Francesco Turbanti, Emanuele Linfatti, Matteo Creatini — with whom they are candidates for the David. We really didn’t expect this. We are in the midst of artists such as Elodie, Diodato, Bollani, Mengoni with Endrigo. already a medal. We are outsiders. The high school band arriving on the red carpet. It looks like the plot of a movie.
