Inter presented an appeal against the sports judge’s decision, but lost it. Meanwhile, the initial decision to have Juventus play a home match without spectators in the portion of the stadium from which the insults came was revoked. A decision taken into consideration of the fact that Juventus promptly identified two of the culprits of the racist insults, punishing them with a ban on accessing the stadium. A reasonable decision, the paradoxical existence of which, however, is that the only one punished in the matter is Lukaku himself, first insulted and then admonished for having cheered in his usual way.

Among the many indignant reactions, we note that of Inter, who wrote on its official communication channels: “The FIGC National Appeal Sports Court today confirmed the disqualification of Romelu Lukaku, who will thus not be able to participate in the semi-final of Coppa Italia Frecciarossa next Wednesday. FC Internazionale Milano feels it has to renew its closeness and support for its player and expresses its great displeasure in acknowledging that the victim has become the only culprit”. Federal President Gabriele Gravina has personally taken an interest in the matter, and has given orders to the offices to find a dignified solution to the matter.
