According to the players union the “conduct” of the club “is incompatible with the Fifa regulation on the status and transfer of players”. For all this «Rick Karsdorp has full support from both FifPro and the Dutch players’ union VVCS.’

In this regard, the head of the Dutch Assocalciatori as well as a member of the board of FifPro, Louis Everard said: “Obviously, it’s not the first time players have been used as scapegoats to divert attention from club performance and management.. It is not acceptable for a club to isolate a player and treat him differently from his teammates.” For the secretary general of FifPro, Jonas Baer-Hoffmann: «Players are first and foremost employees of the clubs and, as such, clubs have a duty to take care of them. We ask AS Roma to immediately comply with this duty and ensure that Rick Karsdorp is treated fairly and that his rights are respected”.
