Jacques Villeneuve is back on track. The former Formula One driver, world champion in 1997, will join the 2023 World Endurance Car Championship (WEC) in its main category of Hypercars. The 51-year-old Canadian, entered with the Austrian Vanwall team, will drive – alongside the French Tom Dillmann and the Argentine Esteban Guerrieri – one of the 13 cars entered for the 2023 season. In addition to Villeneuve, the Italian Antonio Giovinazzi, reserve driver of the Ferrari in F1, and the Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne, two-time Formula Electric world champion in 2018 and 2019, are expected this season in Hypercar. The WEC championship, which this year will see the return of some motorsport big names such as Ferrari, Porsche and Cadillac, will kick off on March 17 with the 1000 Miles of Sebring (United States).
