They come back States General of the Green Economy 2022, the annual reference event for the Italian green economy, on the occasion of Ecomondo – Key Energy at Rimini Fiera. The session Energy and Climateorganized in collaboration with Italy for Climatetoday from 3 to 6 pm. An opportunity to look to the future by sharing a long-term proposal that will allow us to move towards a climate neutral perspective by 2045. “Visions of the future: Italian companies and the challenge of climate neutrality” is the name chosen for the session in which we will also listen to the stories disruptive of some Italian companies that with ambitious choices have given way to a small revolution in their industrial sector, transforming their core business or production processes towards zero emissions.

The current energy crisis has also revived the debate on the energy transition and climate commitments in Italy. The time horizon of 2030 is certainly still a priority but it is no longer sufficient to think in terms of investments, new technologies and industrial policies that instead have a long-term impact. For this reason Italy for Climate wants to promote a comparison on wider horizons by proposing a path to achieve climate neutrality in Italy by 2045, in the belief that the most effective response to the current crisis is precisely the transition to a zero-emission economy. It will be discussed in the first panel of the event with Edo Ronchi (President of the Foundation for Sustainable Development and Promoter of Italy for Climate), with Agostino Re Rebaudengo (President of Elettricità Futura) e Edoardo Garrone (Chairman of ERG). The panel will close with the presentation of CO2alitionthe initiative of the Foundation for Sustainable Development and Nativa to bring the fight against climate change into the statute of companies.

In the second panel, after the introductory speech by Andrea Barbabella (Coordinator of Italy for Climate), 5 success stories will be told:

  • The courage to change: the second drug revolution I askedwith Maria Paola Chiesi, Director of Shared Value & Sustainability of Chiesi Farmaceutici
  • There are no impossible sectors: Arvedi leader in circular and decarbonised steel, with Alessandra Barocci, Arvedi’s Sustainability Manager
  • Close the circle: Caviro integrates food production, circular economy and renewables, with Fabio Baldazzi, General Manager of Caviro Extra
  • Solar autonomy: the plan FS for the most energy-intensive company in the country, with Lorenzo Radice, Sustainability Manager of the Ferrovie dello Stato Group
  • Innovating, innovating, innovating: the challenge of CO batteries2 of the Italian startup with Claudio Spadacini, CEO & Founder of Energy Dome

The States General of the Green Economy are the annual reference event for the Italian green economy promoted by the National Council of the Green Economy and carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security and the patronage of the European Commission and the Cariplo Foundation.

“The new challenges of the ecological transition for Italian companies – Among the high costs of energy, raw materials and the climate crisis” is the focus chosen for this edition of the States General, which comes at the end of a year marked by considerable difficulties for the Italian economy, with a strong recovery in inflation, with the signs of a new recession, with prices still too high of gas and electricity, in a scenario of fears and uncertainties generated by the war unleashed in Europe by Russia against Ukraine. In the new context of 2022, however, there are strong reasons and opportunities to overcome the new obstacles, limiting damage and setbacks, proceeding on the path of ecological and climatic transition.
