Italian sport produces 102 billion in revenues.  The Banca Ifis Observatory

During the pandemic, the economic impact of Italian sport was often discussed. The long periods of restrictions and limitations, from the suspension of activities and competitions at both professional and amateur levels, to the ban on the presence of fans at live events, have had to balance the primary need to protect health with the need to restart. A valid discourse for every branch of productive society, but partially included in sport, at both an institutional and public opinion level, in a prejudicial frame from bread and circuses: sport more as a recreational pastime than a means of livelihood for many.
