Interamnia, the small handball Olympiad turns fifty

The world in one city, under the banner of inclusion and sustainability. These are the themes at the center of the 50th edition of theInteramnia World Cup handball, scheduled in Teramo from 4 to 15 July after the three-year stop imposed by the pandemic. Humanity beyond national borders, without neglecting the distinctive characteristics of peoples, in a word: OneFlagthe flag designed by the artist Fabio Sannicandro to represent the internationality of the event. Today, June 12, the presentation of the event at the headquarters of Cones in Rome, in the presence of the Minister of Sport Andrea Abodiwhich he defined Interamnia “much more than a sporting event”.

Teramo, the city open to the world

Promote the culture of peace among peoples. It is one of the goals of Interamniawhich in 1989 secured the title for Teramo Unicef of “City open to the world”. A sporting event also supported by the non-governmental organization Amnesty Internationalwho awarded her the title of “Human Rights Defender” seven years ago.

The Interamnia World Cup program

Five continents, 70 nations and 220 teams, with 7,000 participants, ready to compete in 6 handball tournaments and 4 dedicated to other sports (football, volleyball, basketball and rugby). Each participating delegation will inaugurate the event by parading through the streets of the historic city centre. The event will be accompanied by concerts, shows, exhibitions and debates, which will project Teramo into the center of the world. From 4 to 8 July the fiftieth anniversary celebrations, from 9 to 15 the Cup, in which more than 200 matches will be played.
