After Roma, Inter also decided to remove the sponsor DigitalBits from their shirts, which did not pay the 24 million euros this season plus a bonus from last season. After an entire season in which the viale della Liberazione club did not receive even one of the three installments of 8 million each (plus the bonus for winning the Italian Cup last year: total around 25.5 million), the club would have decided to remove the brand from the shirt. He does so now also in consideration of the global visibility of the next matches that Simone Inzaghi’s team will have to play. From the semi-final against Milan (May 10 and 16) to the Coppa Italia final on May 24 against Fiorentina at the Olimpico stadium in Rome. For a few weeks now, the viale Liberazione club has been negotiating to find a new brand to replace DigitalBits, with whom a contract had been signed until 30 June 2025. If he doesn’t find it, he could instead put the words “Inter Campus” on the shirt .

As mentioned, Roma will also do the same thing. So tonight, Saturday 29 April against Milan on the Giallorossi’s shirts there will be the writing SPQR, to symbolize the bond with the city. A first move, very strong, after the non-payment of the installment which expired at the end of March. A sort of freezing of the partnership, at least as regards the most visible space, in the hope that the main sponsor will fulfill its obligations. If this does not happen, Roma will turn off all the other slots provided for in the contract. The default occurred more recently due to the particular type of contract signed by the Giallorossi. The agreement, in fact, provided that DigitalBits (or rather the owner Zytara) pay a first installment of 500 thousand euros only in March and the balance at the end of the season. How much? 9.5 million, considering that the three-year partnership contemplated rising amounts: 5 million in 2021-22, 10 this season and 21 in 2023-24. The Giallorossi managers weren’t blown away. They knew the situation very well, given what was happening at Inter. For Roma – considering the amounts expected this year and next – there is a potential shortfall of 31 million euros to cover.
