“In silence” is a good Spanish thriller, visible on Netflix, which up to a certain point seems even excellent, shows off a series of obsessions that partly concern us and partly fascinate us precisely because of the pathology of a crime news that is always there nearest. Halfway through 6 episodes but the psychoanalyst Ana who investigates the case has a hand in it and who, in addition to not being an Oscar-winning actress, is young for an unreliable role that allows herself too much. It all begins when one evening, from a balcony of an elegant house in Bilbao, first a woman and then a man fall: her son, almost a boy, is considered the murderer, is psychologically lynched and goes to jail but, given the young age, he doesn’t stay more than six years in complete silence, he doesn’t say a word, he doesn’t confess or deny.

He comes out on probation, with a bracelet ankle and a series of mini cameras hidden in his house which, unbeknownst to him, give way to monitor his every move and to assess the state of his mental health: he is monitored minute by minute as he searches for lost time. Directed by several hands but with an escalation of emotions and some good twists, the series created by Aitor Gabilondo, who is also one of the three directors, manages to inject us with a doubt that will only be revealed at the end. Sergio, the protagonist, is desperately looking for his sister Noa who, as a child, was at home on the evening of the double murder, then was given up for adoption. To make the boy fall into a trap, Marta is hired, a naive girl, virtually in love with him who acts as bait and goes to find him and naturally falls in love (indeed, he hates and loves…), putting her relationship with her boyfriend in serious difficulty. takes revenge in the most sordid way.

Sergio does not speak and does not trust anyone. Like us who cannot reveal much, but it can be said that, as in all Hispanic productions there are no limits, melodrama is the master even in this psycho joint, while Sergio is again sent to the community and then to work in a greenhouse, in the direction of which there is a picturesque character. Before getting to the redde rationem, all kinds of things happen in 6 episodes, beatings, ambushes, blackmail, treacherous and corrupt policemen, industrial secrets, even a brazen, sexual, completely useless scene in which Ana demonstrates how sensitive she is by now to the investigation .

In the cast Almudena Amor, the passionate psychoanalyst who spies on the murderer’s feelings and movements, and two well-known faces of Spanish production, Aaròn Piper, protagonist of ambiguous charm, and Manu Rìos, both stars of Liceo Las Encinas from the socio-scholastic series “Elite”. But will Sergio really be a malicious narcissist? Or an innocent wrongfully accused? In the middle of the series there are doubts that there is a deeper plot underneath, with trafficking in medicines and hidden secrets that have to do with the aggressive personality of Sergio and his mother. The reintegration of the culprit into society is a theme that is only touched upon because they are more burning topics that interest the production, which mixes Good and Evil in a skilful script, keeping the coup in store for the last five minutes. The ending is tragic and definitive but you never know, certain success could also invite you to start a second season, because many characters are still free to play with their destinies.
