On the occasion of the Day of Remembrance in the Banco di Napoli Foundation, the Cartastorie Museum exhibits documents of exile and reintegration

«He has resolved to dispense you…». It is surprising to note a certain familiarity between the regime’s bureaucrats and the contemporary entrepreneurial one, in the era of the precariousness of work. But the first, certainly more cold and cheeky, refers to completely different stories.

Communications of suspension of service and letters of exile make up the “collection” entitled “He resolved to dispense you”. They bear witness to the application, also by the Banco di Napoli, of the laws “for the defense of the race” with which tens of thousands lost their jobs and rights in general, out of the blue. An incontrovertible testimony on what happened between 1938 and 1945.

The exhibition can be viewed on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 January during the opening hours of the Museo dell’Archivio Storico del Banco di Napoli (from 10 to 18) with the standard admission ticket (5 € with free visit and 7 € with guided).

The Foundation chaired by Orazio Abbamonte at the Cartastorie directed by Sergio Riolo has an archival heritage “capable of restoring 500 years of history, from 1539 to the present day”. And at the Museum of the Courts, through several immersive experiences in “tours” among correspondence, multimedia supports, projections and sound reconstructions, it is possible to discover the time guarded by what at first sight might seem “only” accounting registers. Here are, for example, the documentary evidence of the works commissioned in Naples to Michelangelo by Caravaggio or the “alchemical” myth of Prince Raimondo De Sangro is debunked.
