High flames licking the houses, terror and fans fleeing, the streets becoming a battlefield: families with children forced to return home. The bus where the guest fans were on board, ready to attend the football match (a derby) between Paganese and Casertana, goes up in flames. Yet another act of football violence occurred in the afternoon — Sunday 22 January — in Pagani, in the Salerno area. Violent clashes between fans before the kick-off of Paganese-Casertana, the Campanian derby in group G of the Serie D championship. During the riots, a 50-seat coach was set on fire on board which the fans of the away team were traveling and were quickly made to get off the vehicle. The fact occurred at the crossroads between via San Domenico and via Leopardi in Pagani. The fire, which also engulfed the outside of a building, was put down by firefighters. Afterwards there were problems of public order also along the road leading to the Torre stadium. Investigations are underway by the carabinieri of the territorial department of Nocera Inferiore for the identification of those responsible. Investigators are analyzing footage from cameras in the area.
