Golf, Tiger Woods surgery, goodbye to the 2023 Majors and future in the balance

Tiger Woods underwent surgery on his right ankle, putting his participation in the other three Majors this year in doubt. The farewell to the Pga Championship on May 18-21 and the Us Open on June 15-18 is already safe. He remotes the possibility of a recovery in time for the Open Championship (July 20-23).
Woods was forced to withdraw from the Masters after seven holes in his third round after limping en route. He was playing in just his fifth tournament since being involved in a horrific car accident in February 2021, and in the Augsburg days he admitted to being in pain and in “constant pain”. The 47-year-old was thus forced to undergo an operation to try to deal with the arthritis in his ankle. A decision announced on social media: “Tiger underwent a subtalar procedure today to address post-traumatic arthritis from his previous talus fracture.”
The surgery, Woods continued, “was performed by Dr. Martin O’Malley at the HSS Sports Medicine Institute in New York City. (The surgeon) determined that the surgery was successful.” Tiger “is recovering and can’t wait to start his rehabilitation.”

In the crash that battered a physique already strained by various operations, Woods shattered multiple bones in his right leg and ankle when the SUV he was driving crashed at about 84 mph in California in February 2021. The winner of 15 major tournaments , most recently at the Masters in 2019, admitted he was lucky to be alive and still have legs after revealing doctors were considering amputation. Among the consequences of the accident was plantar fasciitis, an injury to the sole of the foot which forced him to retire and undergo surgery.
His appearance at the last Masters was only his second so far this year.
