A stage that could reserve some surprises because there is a small uphill stretch near Piazza del Popolo that can make the final selection, also considering that the cyclists will still have the fatigue of the day before in Friuli uphill time trial in their legs. Departure at 15.20, arrival expected at 18.45 and here the award ceremony kissed – presumably – by the colors of the Roman sunset in front of the Colosseum.

“In 2018 a sensational mistake”
“The route has been extensively analysed, able to guarantee maximum safety for cyclists. In this year and three months, the interventions made also with the agreement with Anas have led to important changes. The roads will be up to the challenge. The the most beautiful thing is to have had the ambition compared to the past to have made a journey that touches various parts of Rome”. As Vincent Honored, councilor for sport of the Municipality of Rome, at the end of the presentation in the Campidoglio of the final stage in the capital of the Giro d’Italia. “The controversies of 2018? I remember them well, I was an opposition city councilor. A sensational mistake was made then, the route was almost entirely on cobblestones. A narrow path in the center repeated dozens and dozens of times. This is a different route, the part of the cobblestones is minimal and they are well kept, the rest is asphalt and it’s a 70-kilometre route distributed throughout the city. They are not the repetition of just 3 kilometres”.

Malagò: “Better late than never”
